Sporting Futures Expands with UKSPF Support
We’re proud to announce that Disability Sport Yorkshire has secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), supported by the UK Government and the Mayor of West Yorkshire.
This is a significant step forward in delivering our mission: creating more opportunities for disabled people and young people to take part in sport, build confidence, and develop vital life skills.
New Cohorts Launching This September
Thanks to this support, our Sporting Futures programme will be expanding into Pontefract, Featherstone, and Castleford this September.
These new cohorts will give participants the chance to:
Try new activities in a supportive environment
Build confidence and transferable life skills
Connect with peers and community partners
Discover their potential through the power of sport

Celebrating Recent Success
This announcement follows the success of our most recent Sporting Futures cohort in Sheffield, Harrogate, and Rotherham.
Highlights included:
Confidence-building sessions that inspired participants to step outside their comfort zones
Youth-led pop-up cafés, raising money for local causes while building employability skills
Community partnerships that showcased the power of inclusion in action
With an average participant rating of 4.8/5 and over 80% 5-star reviews, the impact was clear—not only in physical health and sporting ability, but also in wellbeing, friendships, and community pride.
Looking Ahead
With UKSPF backing, Sporting Futures is set to reach more communities than ever before. Each new cohort is an opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower disabled young people—building pathways into sport, volunteering, and beyond.
