Our Purpose

Why do we do what we do?

Our purpose is to improve the health, wellbeing, and quality of life for disabled people in Yorkshire and The Humber. To amplify their dignity, self-worth and social contribution.

Enabling disabled people to be more active, if they choose, is important because it improves lives – and it helps society. Disabled people with improved lives leads to a reduced burden on society (physically and economically) and it contributes towards greater social inclusion, tolerance, patience, acceptance, normalisation and understanding. The operational programmes of DSY have a direct correlation with the benefits of being active and being physically and economically engaged. This leads to an improved quality of life for the individual, their immediate family and caregivers, as well as the community and society as a whole.

Our Mission

What are we going to do?

DSY will continue to provide opportunities for disabled people in Yorkshire and The Humber to get involved with sports, physical and recreational activities, and sporting organisations.

We are committed to making Yorkshire the best place in England for disabled people to:

Providing Equal Opportunities

At DSY, we aim to make sport as accessible and engaging for disabled people as possible, allowing them to participate at their chosen level.
