Funding For Primary School Sport

In March 2013 the Government announced funding designed to improve the quality of PE and sport provision in every primary school in England.

This includes:

  • A lump sum of £8,000 for each school, with a £5 per pupil top-up.

  • Ring-fenced funding – to be spent only on PE and sport ensuring the funding will go directly to schools who will decide what is best for their children’s needs.

  • Tougher assessment of PE and sport provision via Ofsted to ensure the funding is bringing the maximum benefit for all pupils,

At Disability Sport Yorkshire we believe that a positive experience in PE and school sport can play a vital role in promoting life-long participation for all young people.
