Steve Adams 1959-2017
DSY is saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Adams, former winner (2013) of the DSY Service to Sport Award.
Steve, a former professional footballer at Sheffield Wednesday and Scarborough, was well known in Sheffield, running the Football in The Community Scheme at Sheffield Wednesday, before setting up “Tricky Wingers”, delivering football coaching in schools.
Steve became involved with the “Ability Counts” Football Teams in Sheffield, running teams and inspiring players with a disability to take part and develop their own talents.
Aside from his inspirational coaching, Steve will be best remembered for his sense of humour, his love of family and friends, and his love of Sheffield Wednesday.
Steve died in Sheffield, following a long and brave fight with cancer. Our thoughts go out to Steve’s family and many friends and colleagues. RIP Steve.
