Join the DSY Volunteer Force

When you join our volunteer force, you will be joining a group of people who are interested in creating more opportunities for disabled children and young people to improve their health and well-being by taking part in physical activity and become more involved in the community. You will also be helping a small regional charity to become more effective and efficient by boosting the skills base of the organisation in lots of different ways.

Our scheme sets out the ways you can get involved and how we can work in partnership to widen opportunities for more disabled children and young people to participate in sport and to help us to make improvements to the services we offer.

Opportunities for Volunteering

We do understand that many people who would like to volunteer often have limited time available to do so. With our volunteer force you can decide how much time you want to put in. Opportunities vary from occasional volunteering for special events to just one hour each week supporting a disabled child to take part in sport. You might wish to support us on a more regular basis as a means of developing your skills for a career change or to help you to get a job. For example, from time to time we need specific skills such as accountancy, marketing, database development or help with reception.

Benefits of volunteering

Our small staff team offers support, advice and information for volunteers who want to get involved. We offer a short introductory training session for all volunteers and for those who are interested we can offer accredited training programmes such as the Sports Leaders Award or a specific coaching qualification in a range of sports. We are also exploring a range of other training opportunities for interested volunteers.
