With 18% of the population having a disability or along term medical condition and four out of five disabled people in England currently inactive there is so much more to be done. When you organise or take part in a fundraising event, you are doing something very worthwhile. By helping to raise funds for disabled people to take part in physical activity, more and more of the 1 million disabled people in Yorkshire can enjoy the health and social benefits of sport.
There are many different ways to raise much needed funds for the work of our charity. Whatever is raised is appreciated and helps us to make a difference to the lives of disabled children and adults in Yorkshire.
Something as simple as a cake sale at work or a coffee morning can raise the funds for us to run a two-hour activity session or disabled children. Sponsored places in a marathon such as the Great North Run could raise vital funds to run an event in our busy Active Events programme.
Whatever the size of company, you can raise your standing in the community and reach many more thousands of people by working with us. Through our Active Events programme you can help is to increase participation and support talented athletes to progress to national and international competition. Hannah Cockcroft, Paralympian, is just one graduate from the Active Events and there are many more young people with potential who just need adapted equipment or specialised coaching.
You might also consider support through employee volunteering as part of your corporate social responsibility scheme.
- Donation of £50 pays for a two hour activity session for disabled children
- A gift of £100 provides basic coaching for disabled people in a sport of their choice
- £250 buys essential adapted sports equipment
- £1,000 delivers a full day athletics completion for 400 disabled young people
Together we can make a huge difference to the lives of disabled people.
